The approach is different: Back-to-front
The Risaris approach is focused on the use of SOA standards from
the back of your technical environment to the front.
The Gateway has been built to unleash the power of legacy data
and information across multiple platforms. The approach delivers
business and technical benefits.
The SOA Gateway:
- Is single tiered
- Runs local to data
- Interfaces directly with local resources
- Focuses on web services
- Provides platform, database and language coverage.
Single-tiered approach
The Risaris SOA Gateway is a single-tiered approach to
expose business logic and data as Web Services by locating the product
local to the data and business logic.
Other implementations use two and three tiers to expose data as
a Web Service.
Using a single-tiered approach leads to advantages in terms of
overall performance and delivery of the Web Services, while reducing
the points of failure leading to a more robust Web Services infrastructure.
Runs local to data and business logic
By running entirely local to the data and business logic,
the Gateway has the ability to work more closely with the local
platform infrastructure.
This leads to improved integration in:
Interfaces directly with local resources
The SOA Gateway runs on the local platform to the data and business
logic.
It can interface directly with local resources, such as dispatching
mechanism, performance monitors and so on.
All the data for measuring performance and identifying problems
is in one place. Hence, performance measurement is easier. Dealing
with problems is also simpler as there is only one layer and one
platform to check when and where problems occur.
Focused on Web Services
The SOA Gateway provides data using Web Services and hence can be
optimised based on that protocol standard.
In addition, the SOAP protocol is the basis upon which the EU’s
DataGrid project is being built. This will ensure users of the SOA
Gateway are ready for the next generation of infrastructure by fitting
into the GRID infrastructure seamlessly.
Platform, database and language coverage
The SOA Gateway has been designed as a portable and structured
technology. Its main core is C and C++ and thus can be ported to
any platform.
Database and language interfaces are built as Data Source Driver
plug-ins and can support databases like:
- ADABAS
- VSAM
- DB2
- IMS/DB
- Oracle
- Sybase.
The SOA Gateway supports business logic written in languages such
as:
- Natural
- COBOL
- PL/1
- Assembler
- Java
- C#
- PHP.
Please contact us if you have queries
on other languages supported.
